Medication decisions made with the whole picture in view.

Medication management is ongoing psychiatric care for people taking, or considering, medication for their mental health. Your psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner tracks how you’re responding, watches for side effects, and adjusts your plan as your needs change.

At Philadelphia Integrative Psychiatry, appointments leave time to look into why a medication isn’t working before deciding what to change.

Meet Our Medication Management Providers

Here’s what your provider may ask about at your first appointment:

Your daily life and goals

Your provider may ask about your work, your routines, and what you want treatment to make possible.

Why it matters: A medication plan has to fit your actual schedule and priorities, so your provider factors them in from the start.

Your relationships

Your provider may ask about your relationships with family, friends, and partners, including which feel supportive and which feel strained.

Why it matters: Relationships both shape symptoms and reflect them. Knowing where things stand gives your provider a baseline for recognizing whether treatment is helping or a side effect is getting in the way.

Your mental health history

Your provider may ask about past diagnoses and any therapies, treatments, or medications you’ve tried, including what helped, what didn’t, and any side effects.

Why it matters: Prior treatment response is clinical information. It narrows what to consider next, so you’re not starting over.

How you manage stress

Your provider may ask how stress shows up for you and what you already do to manage it.

Why it matters: Medication can be one way to manage stress. Knowing which strategies already help shows where medication fits and where therapy or skills-based support may add more.

Your Physical Health

Your provider may ask about sleep, diet, exercise, and use of alcohol, nicotine, or other substances, and may review metabolic and other physical factors.

Why it matters: Physical health shapes psychiatric symptoms and how a medication is tolerated. Evaluating it as part of your care, rather than referring it out, means your treatment plan accounts for the whole picture.
