What Is a Psychological Assessment?
A psychological assessment is a structured, evidence-based process used to understand how a person thinks, learns, processes information, regulates emotions, and functions day to day. It combines standardized testing with interviews, rating scales, background history, and clinical interpretation to build a more complete picture than a single screening or conversation can provide.
The goal is not simply to arrive at a diagnosis. An assessment can identify patterns of strengths and challenges, clarify why certain difficulties may be occurring, and translate those findings into specific recommendations for treatment, school, work, or daily life.
