Does Leucovorin help autism?

Leucovorin (folinic acid) has been studied as a treatment for certain children with autism, particularly those with speech delays or challenges related to cerebral folate deficiency.

Research suggests that in some children, especially those with folate receptor autoantibodies (FRAs), Leucovorin may support improvements in language, social interaction, and behavior.

Results can vary from child to child, but for some families, it offers a meaningful, biologically-informed approach when other therapies haven’t led to progress.
