Why Leucovorin?
For some children with autism, challenges with speech, behavior, and social connection may be linked to how folate is transported into the brain.
In a subset of children, folate receptor autoantibodies (FRAs) can block folate from crossing into the central nervous system, leading to what’s known as cerebral folate deficiency.
When this pathway is disrupted, it can impact communication, regulation, and cognitive function.
Folate plays a critical role in:
🧠 Brain development
⚙️ Neurotransmitter production
🧬 DNA synthesis and repair
Leucovorin (folinic acid) is a prescription-grade, bioactive form of folate that bypasses this blockage—allowing folate to reach the brain through alternative pathways.
Clinical research and parent-reported outcomes suggest Leucovorin may help:
💬 Improve speech and language development
🙂 Increase social engagement and eye contact
❤️ Support emotional regulation
🧠 Reduce certain neurological symptoms

Unlike standard folic acid supplements, Leucovorin:
✅ Is already metabolically active
✅ Crosses into the brain more effectively
✅ Is used in targeted, research-informed dosing
This makes it a promising, biologically-informed option for families across the U.S. seeking new answers.
What parents are seeing:
Families and clinical studies report meaningful improvements with Leucovorin for autism, especially in non-speaking children:
🗣️ New words and vocalizations
💬 Better understanding of language
💞 More eye contact and social connection
☁️ Calmer moods and reduced irritability
These outcomes vary by child, but for many families, they represent meaningful progress where other approaches have fallen short.

How the Process Works
Getting started with Leucovorin treatment for autism is simple.
1. Submit an interest form
Start by completing a short eligibility form so our team can confirm treatment availability in your state.
2. Schedule a complimentary consult
Speak with a member of our intake team to help determine the best care pathway for your family—based on your goals, budget, comfort level, and state eligibility. They can walk you through what to expect and answer program-related questions.
Please note: This is not a clinical consultation with a physician and does not include medical advice or treatment recommendations.
Families complete a secure medical questionnaire covering medical history, current symptoms, and prior treatments.
A clinician reviews the provided intake information offline to determine whether Leucovorin treatment is appropriate.
5. Treatment plan issued and medication prescribed
If appropriate, a protocol-based treatment plan is created. Leucovorin is prescribed and sent to your pharmacy for fulfillment and pick up.
4. Physician review
Optional
Additional laboratory testing such as FRAT testing and MFTHR gene testing may be ordered for further diagnostic insight.
3. Complete your intake questionnaire
1. Fill out our intake form
This form gives us a chance to understand your story and what you need most. It also helps us confirm that you’re in our service area so we can provide Leucovorin treatment to you.
2. Connect with our team
Meet with Dr. Danish or a licensed team member for a 25-minute intake to see if Leucovorin, FRAT testing, or both are the right fit.
Note: This intake is not a full autism evaluation or a comprehensive psychiatric medication review.
3. Choose your path
After our call, you’ll either begin a 12-week Leucovorin treatment plan, move forward with FRAT testing at a local lab, or take both steps together if that’s the best fit.
4. Stay Connected
Reach out anytime through our portal, and schedule follow-ups only when you need them.
5. Nationwide Access
FRAT testing is available in all 50 states, and Leucovorin prescriptions are offered in 40+ states—so care can reach you wherever you are.
It all starts with sharing your story through our intake form and scheduling a call with our team.
